Look at the title of the receipt. Tickets print at specific times:
The credit card receipt will print when a credit card is approved.
The customer receipt will print when a payment is made.
Prep tickets print when an order has completed regardless of payment.
There is no setting that will change the behavior of these settings except that a customer receipt can be suppressed by checking a box located at Office Manager>Tools>Select Printing Templates. Once checked, the only way to print a customer receipt is from View Tickets.
You can also remove the template entirely which will have the result of never printing that function.
